KelvinPosted by Mark Crymble (Belfast, United Kingdom) on 3 November 2009 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio. With no good photos or ideas, I took a little walk to Botanic Gardens in Belfast. This statue is of Lord Kelvin (William Thomson), a famous "mathematical physicist" born in Belfast. He is best known for the 'Kelvin' - a measurement of temperature named after him. For more Northern Irish history - you may notice someone has graffiti-ed the letters "UDA" onto the bottom of the statue, a loyalist parliamentary group.
